Voice in a Million at the O2

11 Mar

Some of you may have seen or heard about this event, it is to raise money for the British Association for Adoption and Fostering. The opportunity to perform at the O2 will be a great experience for everyone involved and at the same time raise money for charity. There will also be opportunities in September for members to audition to be in small groups and to sing solo. Anyone interested in singing in a small group or a solo needs to visit the website, www.voiceinamillion.com and choose one of the songs to sing as their audition piece. The audition dates will probably be Sept. 19th and 26th, however they are yet to be confirmed.

To take part in this event with AYP we would like our members to be in year four upwards and have appeared in a previous AYP production

To take part is just £10 which includes a T shirt. If there are enough of us we hope that we will all be able to go up to London on a coach and have been quoted an approximate return fare from Feltham per person to be around £11 per person. Alternatively, you are welcome to meet us there. It may be that if there are spare seats that we can book them out to any audience members who may like to travel with us. We will only book a coach if there is enough interest.

We will also need chaperones who will also need to pay £10 and will be given a T shirt. It is my understanding that adults are able to join in and I know how much lots of you love to sing, so I hope that most of our chaperones will be in the concert too. However you are of course most welcome to help and not sing!

Tickets for the performance appear to be £20 to £30 or £150 for a “VIP experience” all for a good cause. These tickets are on sale now and can be bought through the O2 or Voice in a Million website.

As far as I am aware the schedule for the day will be as follows:

  • 2.00pm – Rehearsal
  • 4.00pm – Technical
  • 7.30pm – Concert

This will mean that the children who take part will need to have the day off school (or at least most of it) as I estimate that we would need to leave no later than 12.00 midday to get there in time. At present the organisers are trying to sort out how any licensing will work. I am not aware of any other rehearsal commitments, though I would plan to have at least one Sunday rehearsal in January, either on the 17th or 24th. There may be extra rehearsals for soloists and small groups run by Classic Pictures, the company putting on the concert.

At present celebrities signed up to the project are Sinitta, Nicky Campbell and Elliot Evans (Britain’s Got Talent). I am sure that there will be lots more celebrities who are able to take part closer to the event.

As this event is going to be extremely popular, we need to confirm our participation urgently. Therefore, if your child/ren would like to take part in this event please email sue@axisyouthproductions.co.uk and put a cheque in the post for £10.00 made payable to Axis Youth Productions. At this point, please also advise whether you would prefer to make your own way to the O2 or join the AYP coach. Please note that payment for the coach will be required in advance, which is not refundable.

This is an opportunity to sing with the most people you will probably ever sing with in your entire life, in a famous concert venue sharing what should be an amazing experience with all your friends, but above all to raise money for one of our many deserving charities.
